We founded Williams Partnership in 2004 and our name is key – we are partners in every sense of the word. Husband and wife. Mom and dad. Partners in business. As well, we build partnerships with each and every client, contractor, and consultant. An architectural journey can be long, oftentimes challenging. As your partner, we are by your side every step of the way.
After years honing our skills at some of the region’s most respected and accomplished firms, we built our own firm around the more personal, stewardship-centered way we want to work and live.
Joel was raised in Anniston, Alabama, devoting summers and holidays to learning the craft of home building with his father, a third generation home builder. Melissa was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and subsequently Huntsville, Alabama, where she concentrated on Art, Gymnastics, and Ballet. While Melissa brings to the partnership a talent for interiors and the shaping and flow of spaces, honed through her study of the fine arts, Joel brings to the partnership a practical, technical knowledge of construction and a love for craft and details.
These talents are brought to bear on each individual project through the direct involvement of both Joel & Melissa on every project.
Both Melissa and Joel hold Bachelors of Architecture degrees from Auburn University’s College of Architecture, Design, & Construction, graduating in 1996. Between graduation and the founding of Williams Partnership, Joel & Melissa practiced with some of the region’s most respected and accomplished firms, where both were responsible for design and management of various commercial, retail, religious, & custom residential projects.
Both are licensed to practice Architecture in Alabama and hold NCARB certificates for reciprocal licensure in other states as needed. Additionally, Melissa holds NCIDQ Interior Design certification with Interior Design registration in Alabama.
Joel & Melissa enjoy spending time with their two teen daughters, with activities ranging from traveling for pleasure & sports, to hiking, biking, & exercising indoors or out, to cooking, photography, & other creative endeavors.
